Terms of Service

Welcome to Korken. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms. We've kept them as short and plain as we can.

1. What Korken is

Korken is a personal wine cellar app. You use it to track the bottles you own, log tasting notes, and chat with an AI assistant that answers questions about your cellar and wine in general. It's a hobbyist tool — not a financial product, not a marketplace, not a professional sommelier service.

2. Who can use Korken

You must be of legal drinking age in your jurisdiction to use Korken. By creating an account you confirm that you are.

3. Your account

You're responsible for keeping your email and password secure. Don't share your account. If you think your account has been compromised, contact us right away.

4. Acceptable use

Don't use Korken to:

• Break the law in your jurisdiction or ours.
• Scrape, copy, or resell our data, our knowledge base, or AI responses.
• Reverse-engineer or attempt to access parts of the system you weren't given access to.
• Attempt to flood the AI or the API beyond reasonable use (we rate-limit; please don't make us tighten that further).
• Upload anything illegal, hateful, or that infringes someone else's rights.

5. The AI assistant

Korken's wine recommendations, drink-window estimates, food pairings, and producer information are generated by an AI model and a curated knowledge base. They're meant to be helpful, but they aren't professional sommelier or investment advice. We can't guarantee accuracy. Don't open a $500 bottle just because Korken said it was ready — use your own judgment, and ask a human you trust on the big ones.

6. Your content

You own the wine data, photos, and notes you put into Korken. By using the service, you give us permission to store and process that content as needed to operate the app (including sending wine label photos and chat messages to our AI provider, Anthropic, for processing — see our Privacy Policy).

If you delete content or your account, we delete the corresponding data. Backups and logs may take a short while to fully expire.

7. Service availability

Korken is in beta. The app, the AI, and the underlying services may go down, change, or behave unexpectedly. We'll work to keep things running, but we can't promise uninterrupted service.

8. Disclaimer

Korken is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We make no warranties about merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you've paid us in the past twelve months, which during beta is zero.

9. Termination

You can close your account at any time. We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or put the service at risk, with notice when reasonable.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Korken evolves. If we make a material change, we'll let you know inside the app before it takes effect. Continued use after the change means you accept the new terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.
